Wesley Hall receives honorary doctorate from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education

The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education awarded an honorary doctorate to Mr. Wes Hall during the 2021 Convocation ceremony held on Monday, June 14th. Hall is a leading philanthropist and anti-Black racism activist. He has been recognized by The Globe and Mail, Canadian Business, Toronto Life and Maclean's as one of Canada’s most influential figures.

During his Convocation 2021 address, he encouraged graduates to be resilient: ‘’I was given an opportunity at one of Canada's largest television stations,” he said, recounting his own professional journey. “I was hired for a job I did not know how to do, but I did not let it stop me. I told you this was a story about resilience.’’ Hall concluded with a word of advice for graduates: ‘’If you make the change, if you take risk, there could be [an] amazing opportunity.’’
